In an exploration of the power of art, around 90 works of various genres — ranging from Western-style paintings and nihonga (Japanese-style painting) to sculpture and crafts — have been selected from the some 1,400 works of the Menard Art Museum collection. This exhibition brings together many famous names such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Katsushika Hokusai, Taikan Yokoyama and Auguste Rodin.

Among the masterpieces, highlights include "The Proposal" (1907), a painting by Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956) that is being shown to the public for the first time. Feininger, a New York-born artist of German descent, was a comic-strip and satirical-drawing illustrator for magazines and newspapers. He became one of the most influential caricaturists in Germany. He first painted in oils at age 36, after which he focused on painting while based in both Germany and the United States; till Dec. 23.
