Sapporo's Kuniyuki Takahashi, aka KOSS, has the ability to deliver an unmistakable fusion of culturally diverse and soulful soundscapes with his own organic take on deep house and techno. The Japan Times took a look inside his record bag.
Golden Oldie: Vangelis — "Creation Du Monde" (Polydor). Whenever I listen to this ambient classic, it reminds me just how meaningful and full of potential music can be.
New Classic: Roman Flugel — "Song With Blue" (Dial). This one is off an album that Roman gave to me when I went to Frankfurt. It's melancholic and modern.
Floor Filler: Osunlade — "Envision [Ame remix]" (Innervisions). This is another killer remix from Innervisions.
Must-Listen: Mr Raoul K — "Africa" [Kuniyuki Main remix] (Mule Musiq). A remix I did for my label-mate Raoul K. It was a real treat to have the whole side of a 12-inch to do this.
KOSS plays Provo in Sapporo with Mix Master Morris on Nov. 3 and Eleven in Tokyo with Henrik Schwarz on Nov. 4. For more information, visit www.provo.jp and www.go-to-eleven.com. Also, check out some podcasts at www.clubberia.com/search/?text=kuniyuki.
