Makoto Murata is an art writer who also serves as principal of the Bank ART School in Yokohama. In the 30 years since he graduated in painting at Tokyo Zoukei University he has contributed numerous sharply intuitive articles on art to various journals.

The paintings titled "Sekai no Kyosho Series" ("The Series of Masters in the World") depicts an art-book series which has the same title. Using all the faces of a canvas, Murata reconstructs the art books of old masters such as El Greco and Georges Seurat.

While he has rarely shown his works in public, this exhibition well reflects Murata's painting talent and his insight into modern art; till Sept. 4.
