"Construction of a State" is award-winning architect Jun Igarashi's first solo show.
Igarashi prides himself on creating designs that are inspired by the pursuit of finding the ideal "state" of architecture, which he believes emerges from studying each structure's natural surrounding environment. The majority of his works were designed and built for the unforgiving Hokkaido climate. The designs manage to seamlessly incorporate the use of sunlight, natural air flow and sightlines to create unique spatial experiences.
Through a series of 18 wooden models, displayed at eye-level, this exhibition illustrates Igarashi's designs and explains how they evolved; till July 9.
