Creator of the Audio Tokyo Electronic Music Festival and director of Eggworm, Groove Patrol (aka Nick Clarke), gives The Japan Times a peek into his record bag.
Golden oldie: Slick — "Space Bass" (Fantasy). A sexy disco classic that gets better every time you hear it. So many labels today are mirroring this sound.
New classic: Mountain People — "Mountain People 6.2" (Mountain People). One of my favorite producers, always an underlying metallic sound with his productions and this one is a real deep track staying true to all that is garage.
Floor-filler: Art Department feat. Seth Troxler — "Vampire Nightclub" (Crosstown Rebels). Killer bass, killer drums and a killer vocal. Basically, this track is a serial killer among sounds.
Must-listen: Tricky — "Makes Me Wanna Die" (Island). A track that fuels so many emotions when you hear it. It just flattens your mood — in a good way.
Groove Patrol spins at The Social Presents: All 4 One Single Release Party at Xex, Nihonbashi on Feb. 12. For more information, visit eggworm.jp
