The nation's fast-growing nail service / goods industry will be on display this Sunday and Monday — showcasing everything from the latest trends and techniques to appearances by celebrities known for their nail art.
Tokyo Nail Expo — organized by the 25-year-old Japan Nailist Association, is in its 12th year and is expected to attract 50,000 visitors connected to the ¥200 billion a year industry. Among the highlights are the World Nailist Championship, an international competition that features preselected nail art practitioners vying for ¥1 million in award money (and more importantly, the champion title), and the presentation of prizes to six "nail queens" — celebrities known as nail-art aficionados such as TV talents Suzanne and Marie, ex-tennis player Ai Sugiyama and actress Kyoko Fukada.
The trade show will feature nearly 80 exhibitors, and free nail decoration services will be provided for visitors during the event.
Tokyo Nail Expo 2010 will be held at Tokyo Big Sight East, Halls 5 and 6, from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. on Nov. 28 and from 10 a.m. till 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 29. For more information, contact the Japan Nailist Association at (03) 3500-1580 or visit nailevent.jp/nailexpo10/index.html.
