Now Lounge, a dance party in Fukuoka, hopes to bring together the area's internationally minded people.
Fukuoka Now, a free multilingual magazine based in the city, is organizing the event for Nov. 26. Publisher Nick Szasz claims the event is the biggest international party in Fukuoka with about 800 people participating on average. Now Lounge is regularly held every two months.
Guests will have the chance to sample wines from representative French and Italian brands. At this particular event, Fukuoka Now is also hosting a special dinner to coincide with the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. Traditional roast turkey with stuffing, cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie will be served.
As for entertainment, British DJ Das Funkt will provide a range of electronic music. The Fukuoka-based DJ has been heavily involved in the city's dance-music scene according to Szasz.
Also performing at the party will be a group of Latin-music dancers called "Rueda." And during the dinner, Australian singer / guitarist Amos Dunn will perform live music.
The venue itself offers a lounge and outdoor patio, so guests can relax after heating up the dance floor.
Tickets will be available at the door as well as in advance. Tickets cost ¥2,500 (not including Thanksgiving dinner). The price includes two drinks. Guests that buy five tickets before Nov. 20 are eligible to get an extra ticket free. Reservations for tickets that include the Thanksgiving option should be made by Nov. 23 on the Fukuoka Now website.
Now Lounge takes place at the Granada Suite Fukuoka in the Tenjin area of Fukuoka City. For more information and reservations, visit www.fukuoka-now.com
