Italian DJ Donato Dozzy wowed disciples of dance music at The Labyrinth, a three-day dance-music festival, in Naeba, Niigata Prefecture, last weekend.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the event also included A Guy Called Gerald, Function and So. Advance tickets are always strictly limited and none are sold at the gate, giving The Labyrinth an incredibly intimate vibe.
"Simply, the best thing I ever experienced in my life," said Dozzy of the party. The DJ, who will also appear in Osaka next week, played both the opening and final sets of the event. With a philosophy that all parties should be held outdoors, he seemed in harmony with the natural setting, demonstrating a flawless mixing style that combined ambient influences with dubbed-down psychedelic techno and trance. No matter what the vibe, whether it be ethereal or at other times mind-numbing, Dozzy's musical understanding is undeniably genius.
