I can try to describe what you will find at Kyoto's Gallery Raku this weekend, but chances are the performance will change by the time you get there.
"Ima Anataga Watashito Yubisashita Houkouno Yukisakiwo Sagasukoto" ("I Am Pointing My Finger at the Direction Where Your Finger Is Pointing at to Discover What Lies Beyond") will be held June 4-6 at the Kyoto University of Arts and Performance.
Midori Kurata, a former student of the university and founder of the performance troupe Akakilike, will head a group comprising of various players using body movement to interact with their audience. Doing this allows them to switch the roles of performer and audience, stressing the fact you can't have one without the other. So as visitors to the gallery come and go, the scene will change throughout the day.
Kurata will welcome various guest performers from time to time, and on June 6 professional dancer Setsuko Yamada will join the group to perform and give a lecture. She has toured in Japan and internationally, performing in the United States, Canada and South Korea.
"Ima Anataga Watashito Yubisashita Houkouno Yukisakiwo Sagasukoto" continues till June 6 at Gallery Raku, Kyoto University of Arts and Performance.
