Director: Anders Ostergaard
Language: English, Burmese
A documentary shot on handheld cameras and smuggled out of Myanmar during the 2007 riots, this film was honored with a 2010 Oscar nomination and won the Documentary Film Editing Award at the Sundance Film Festival. The editing certainly deserves acknowledgement. It follows a group of Burmese journalists dedicating their lives to getting images. Many of us know how the riots concluded, but the heroic reporters featured in "Burma VJ" create an emotion-filled story with amazingly powerful footage.
