Director: Kim Tae Gyoon
Language: Korean
Based on a true-story, this South Korean film follows a North Korean man who goes to China to bring back medicine for his wife. It is depressing to see concentration camps, people swimming across the border between North Korea and China at night, and the unhappy fates they endure. Kim Tae Gyoon has said he could only express a tenth of what he learned in preparing the film. But the story would have been more effective if shot in a documentary style rather than a narrative about the painful fate of one unfortunate family.
