The Min-On Music Museum in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, is celebrating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederic Chopin with an exhibit dedicated to the musician.

The museum is displaying replicas of scores written by Chopin and portraits of the composer and people he was close to in an exhibition about the great master of Romantic music.

Chopin was born in Poland in 1810. He started playing the piano at the age of 4, and at 22 he played his first concert in Paris. After that, he spent his time in France, composing until his death in 1849.

Chopin played an instrument made by Erard, a piano-maker based in Paris. A piano made by the company will be on display at the exhibition. A plaster cast of Chopin's left hand will be shown.

Also look for a corner of the exhibit that is dedicated to the musician's many muses.

The exhibition is being held at Min-On Music Museum in Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays and holidays; closed Monday). Admission is free.
