This year's Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (RSO) concert in Japan marks one of the last chapters of their collaboration with current maestro Bertrand de Billy.
Artistic director and chief conductor de Billy will leave his position this summer, according to the Vienna RSO. Cornelius Meister, who is currently directing an orchestra in Heidelberg, Germany, will replace him in autumn.
De Billy is one of the leading conductors in the world. Before he began conducting, he studied and played the violin and viola in various orchestras, such as the Orchestre Colonne. In 1989, he became the assistant of conductor Pierre Dervaux and soon began a career as a conductor.
