Director: Clint Eastwood
Language: English
Clint Eastwood's latest film is an uplifting tale about Nelson Mandela's (Morgan Freeman) early days as a newly elected president of South Africa and his attempt to help unite the racially torn postapartheid country by supporting the national rugby team (its captain is played by Matt Damon) in the 1995 World Cup. Though the story lacks suspense, Eastwood skillfully crafts this sports biopic with a solid, matter-of-fact tone. Both Freeman and Damon give excellent performances, and the final big game presents a powerful climax.
