Usually photos help convey what a work of art will be like when viewed live. With Masaru Ozaki's planned Christmas presentation at Shibuya's Parco Part 1, they wouldn't even come close.

Even a technical description — coordinated video projections directed on each side of a 3-D object — doesn't help much. How about a recollection of a past Ozaki experience? Earlier this year, when the artist tried his trick on a chair, the chair appeared to come alive. And yet, simultaneously, seemed to vanish.

From Nov. 9 until Dec. 25, Ozaki works his magic on a Christmas tree-like assemblage out the front of Parco 1. From Nov. 7-23, other works by the artist will be displayed in "Motion + Design + Magic," an exhibition at Parco Factory on the 6th floor of the same department store.
