After selling out seven of their 11 "Just a Moment" CD release gigs in May and June, it came as little surprise that posthardcore act Ling Tosite Sigure's upcoming "Tornado Z" solo trek would be an anticipated affair. Performing at Japan's six Zepp music halls in November, all 2,700 Tokyo tickets and the nearly 2,220 tickets for Osaka were rapidly purchased less than 60 minutes after being made available to the public. Fans in Nagoya had a slightly larger window in which to act in; it took their 1,800 capacity Zepp venue two hours to sell out.
Word of mouth about the tightly wound, noisy guitar pop created by the Saitama trio of guitarist TK, bassist 345, and drummer Pierre Nakano attracted support for their 2004 debut "#4" and 2007's gem "Inspiration is Dead." Released independently through their own Nakano Records imprint, the two albums, along with an EP and a CD single, have sold about 150,000 units to date. Those high sale figures along with well received showings at the Countdown Japan 07/08 concert and 2008's Fuji Rock and Rising Sun Rock Festival captured the attention of industry bigwigs, leading to Ling Tosite Sigure signing with Sony Music Entertainment Japan late last year. The major has since issued the group's third full-length, "Just a Moment," and helped secure an appearance at August's Summer Sonic.
The group is already working on the followup to "Just a Moment." It is unknown if show goers will hear samples of the new material at Ling Tosite Sigure's upcoming live dates. However, they can expect frenzied sets filled with high pitched male and female vocals, a whole lot of obligatory flashing lights during TK's energetic shrieks, and thousands of excited bouncing bodies.
