Yokohama's Yamashita Park will turn into an outdoor gallery on the weekend of Oct. 30-Nov. 1, with the Yokohama International Open-Air Art Fair 2009 — featuring artworks by U.S. and Japanese artists.
The three-day event, organized by the nonprofit International Art and Craft Promotion and the City of Yokohama, is the first of its kind in Japan and aimed at providing people with opportunities to appreciate various artworks and talk directly with the artists.
The fair, which will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature 11 U.S. artists and 16 from Japan. Halloween-themed workshops and demonstrations of watercolor painting by artists are also being planned, making the event enjoyable for the whole family.
Visitors can buy the works, which range from paintings, photography and ceramics and are priced between ¥7,000-¥50,000 apiece, on the spot.
Admission is free. For more information, contact the organizer at [email protected] or visit iacp.jp/yokohama_art_fair_2009.html
