Director: Gregory Nava
Language: English and Spanish
In the past 15 years, nearly 500 young women have been brutally raped and murdered near American-owned factories where the victims worked in Ciudad Juarez, a Mexican town near the U.S. border, but the cases have been suspiciously underreported and neglected by local police. Simplifying the intricate issues — political, economic, etc. — director Gregory Nava turns this grim real-life tale into a mediocre suspense drama. Jennifer Lopez stars as a Chicago-based journalist who attempts to investigate the unsolved murders.
