Fairly standard biopic on 1950s pinup Bettie Page, who was the underground version of Marilyn Monroe and marketed to people who preferred their cheesecake in six-inch heels, corsets and wielding a whip. Caught up in a congressional investigation into bondage in 1955, Page suddenly retired into obscurity, and an air of mystique surrounded the model for decades after. Gretchen Mol certainly has the jaw-dropping figure to play Page, but by the end of the movie, she still seems something of a blank. Which may be the point.
