Set in World War I, "Flyboys" features American pilots who volunteered for the French military before the United States entered the war. James Franco ("Spider-Man") and other young Americans fly planes and battle against the Germans. Although the film takes some time to introduce each pilot's background — from an ex-boxer to a spoiled rich kid — their characters, apart from Franco, are poorly depicted, making it difficult to remember even their names. That said, the series of dogfights are sure to please airplane geeks.
