In a country where women are banned from attending men's sporting events, intrepid Iranian girls try to sneak into a soccer stadium in Tehran to see a World Cup qualifying game. Inspired by a true story, the film gives a sharp social critique on the Iranian regime in a humorous and vibrant manner — all finely delivered by a nonprofessional cast. Caught trying to slip into the stadium disguised as boys, the girls listen to the crowd cheer and groan as they brood in a special holding pen. There's hope at the climax, and it's beautifully executed.
