Ever been to a Bon festival and marveled at how everyone manages to pull off wearing a yukata (summer kimono) with such aplomb? Match the well-dressed throngs this summer by heading to one of instructor Junko Machida's classes (in Japanese), which will teach you how to properly wear this clothing staple of the summer festivals.
The classes take place on July 3 and July 10 (7-9 p.m.). Machida promises that after one lesson, participants will have mastered dressing themselves in wearing the yukata. Each session is limited to 25 people (attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis); students may rent yukata and an obi sash.
To sign up, e-mail your name, age, telephone number and the date of the class you wish to attend to: [email protected]
Admission is 1,500. The classes take place at Otemachi Building 6F, 1-6-1 Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo.
