United States-born Charles Glover has been taking photographs since he was aged 10. Since that tender age, he has visited all seven continents and 70 countries. Glover's exhibition from his travels in Antarctica runs through August 31 at Maison Franco Japonaise museum in Ebisu, Tokyo.
Seeking a challenge and adventure, not to mention a break from his Tokyo day job as voiceover artist and radio DJ, Glover spent 15 days traveling in Antarctica in 2003, a continent that he says he was inspired to visit on a whim after a search on the Internet led him there.
The museum itself describes Antarctica as "the ultimate and last frontier on Earth." Accordingly, the exhibition captures spectacular images of the continent's brutal yet beautiful scenery of sheer ice, diamond hard rock and giant glaciers and includes many photographs of animals, including seals and penguins. Glover's travels in the Antarctica took him to the Aitcho Islands, part of the South Shetland Islands in the sub-Antarctic, and Neko Harbor on the Antarctic Peninsula.
