The "Star Light Cinema Festival" is currently screening popular movies with a musical theme free of charge at Yebisu Garden Palace in Ebisu, Tokyo. It is the seventh time that the shopping complex has hosted the festival.

Films will be screened on Aug. 4-6 and Aug. 11-13, projected onto a large screen in the outdoor mall's Center Plaza. Although there are only 150 seats available per screening, visitors will also be able to watch from the gallery.

Tickets for seats can be obtained from 5:15 p.m., with movies starting at 6:45 p.m.

Movies to be screened include the 1986 Japanese film "Jazz Daimyo" (Aug. 4), and "Shall We Dance?" starring Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez, to be screened on Aug. 6.

On Aug. 11, the touching human drama "Brassed Off," starring Ewan McGregor and set among a coal mining community in northern England, will be shown. The French movie "Les Choiristes," known in Japan as "Chorus," will be screened on Aug. 12 and the 2003 documentary 'Deep Blue" on Aug. 13. Talk shows and musical performances will also take place before some screenings.
