Amusement park Toshimaen in Tokyo's Toshima Ward is currently hosting its 4th Annual Hydrangea Festival through July 2. The festival is a chance to view various kinds of hydrangea, known as ajisai in Japanese, including "pink shower," "fairy eye" and "Endless Summer" (which remain in bloom for longer than the usual hydrangea) at one of Tokyo's oldest fun parks.

The festival's Ajisai-en (hydrangea garden) is separated into various sections, including the Yama ajisai no komichi (The Path of Mountain Hydrangea) and a 20-meter long tunnel of trained hydrangea, which has proved to be a popular spot with visitors since the festival got under way at the end of last month.

The 4th Annual Hydrangea Festival runs through July 2 (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) at Toshimaen Ajisai-en, 3-25-1 Mukoyama, Toshima-ku, Tokyo, including on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when Toshimaen is closed. Admission is 1,000 yen for adults (500 yen children). For 2,500 yen, visitors can also enjoy the ajisai bento (hydrangea boxed lunch). This fee includes admittance to the festival but reservations must be made in advance (tel. [03] 3990-8844). The park is a 3-minute walk from Toshimaen Station on the Toei-Oedo Line.
