Hot on the heels of Warp Records' i-WARP showcases, Tokyo techno label ROMZ Record is commemorating their fourth anniversary with a series of concerts. Headlining the events will be Miguel Trost Depedro, better known throughout the indie-electronica scene as Kid606. Born in Venezuela, the San Francisco-based musician began making albums in 1998, while still in his teens, under the Kid606 moniker.
Equally influenced by electronic music, hip-hop, punk and metal, he incorporates a wide range of influences into his laptop-driven instrumental excursions, making his sound difficult to pigeonhole. His seamless sonic collages of schizophrenic blasts of noise, dance-driven glitch-hop beats, and ambient pop will certainly have a few trendy folks stroking their chins in appreciation -- and may even get a few bottoms grooving as well.
