Irish Network Japan, the nonprofit organization that aims to "bring a little part of Ireland to Japan," celebrates the biggest event on the Irish calendar with its 15th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Omotesando-dori, Route 246 and Meiji-dori in Tokyo. The parade takes place on March 19, two days after the actual Paddy's Day, with 10,000 people expected to cheer on.
Those participating include the Tokyo Pipe Band, the Nippon University Brass Band, cheerleaders from Tokyo's Senshu University, and representatives of Tokyo's numerous Irish pubs.
Sendai City in Miyagi Prefecture is also getting involved in the craic, hosting its first-ever St. Patrick's Day parade in Kotodai Park in Aoba Ward on March 26.
