* The biggest series hit was the 1962 "King Kong vs. Godzilla," which recorded more than 12 million admissions. Second was the original film, with 9.6 million.
* Toho plans to release "Godzilla: Final Wars" on 6,000 screens in more than 70 territories worldwide. In Japan Toho aims to record 1.75 million admissions, which would put the entire series over the 100 million attendance mark. It is currently playing on 293 screens across the country.
* The name Godzilla was inspired by a man in the Toho publicity department who reminded his colleagues of a gorilla (gorira) and a whale (kujira). When director Honda was stuck for a name, producer Tomoyuki Tanaka remembered the PR guy with the unusual nickname.
* In "Final Wars" Godzilla stands 100 meters tall and weighs 5.5 tons. In addition to Big G, a total of 14 monsters appear in the film, including Mothra, Manda, Anguirus, King Caesar, Rodan, Zilla, Kumonaga, Ebirah, Kamacuras, Hedorah, Gigan, Keizer Ghidorah, Monster X and Minilla, Godzilla's son.
