The 2003 Hibiya Festa will be held Aug. 6-8 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Tokyo's Hibiya Park. The park will be decorated with artwork for the event, and there will be food stalls from 10 popular eateries.

Illuminated sculptures made of driftwood will adorn the park's Daini Kadan (second flower bed) during the festival, while photographs of smiling women taken by Koji Mizutani as part of the "Merry Project" aimed at cheering up Tokyo will also be on display.

Hibiya Festa is part of the Greater Tokyo Festival 2003, a monthlong explosion of movies, music, sporting and other events in Tokyo and Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama prefectures. The event schedule can be viewed on the Internet at www.gtf03.com

The 10 eateries that will be operating stalls at Hibiya Fest are: Carnevale La Bettola (Italian), Basara (Japanese), the Imperial Hotel (French), Com Pho (Vietnamese), Kitchen (organic food), Rokumeishun (shark fin fare), Saryo Tsujiri/Gion Tsujiri (Kyoto-style desserts), Toraji (Korean barbecue), Kiyo's Easy Way Kirakucha (black tapioca drinks) and Nature Craft Garden Cafe.
