It's not every day that someone threatens to kill you. My mistake is to suggest to Asian Dub Foundation bassist Dr. Das that the new album, "Enemy of the Enemy," suggests ADF are moving in a more chilled-out eclectic direction.
"We usually kill journalists who use the word eclectic," is his response. "I have some dead ones in the shed at the bottom of the garden. We've already written new music, enough for an album or two. It's not chilled but more sound-system orientated and very hardcore. It's ASIAN HARDCORE!"
ADF are not gonna drag me screaming from the moshpit on their upcoming Japan tour and strangle me with a guitar string live on stage. Dr. Das is just demonstrating that ADF might be dead serious about their anarcho-commie anticapitalist call-it-what-you-will political manifestos, but they also have a sense of humor. And that's refreshing.
