Somewhere standing off to the side of all the people who have claimed titles in electronic music -- the various kings, queens, godfathers and godmothers -- is Mike Maguire, marking his own beat, seemingly oblivious to the world.
He is, perhaps, the genre's happy-go-lucky uncle, out there on a gnarly branch of the trance family tree, doing things a little bit differently.
A DJ for nearly a quarter century, Maguire, 41, certainly has the pedigree for a title, he just never hangs around long enough to get one.
