By his own estimate, Richard Thompson played about 100 concerts last year, "which means you're on the road for about 150 days."
Still, the veteran singer-songwriter-guitarist says he hasn't tired of touring. "I love to do it," he says during a phone interview from his hotel room in Auckland, where he's playing.
"Other things are important, like family. I've had a family since I was 20. But it's always a pull to be away from home, and you accept it as part of the job. If I could stand to tour less, it would probably be a good thing at some point, but right now I just love to do it."
