A comprehensive exhibition of Old Imari porcelain ware will tour Japan Dec. 30-July 15, offering a rare opportunity to view examples of this renowned ceramic style.
Known as Ko-Imari, Old Imari ware was created in the early 17th century in Saga Prefecture. Featuring some 270 masterpieces, the exhibition is organized around various themes, including the history of ko-Imari, changes in design and its influence on European porcelain.
The exhibition will take place at Fukuoka Mitsukoshi department store Dec. 30-Jan. 21; Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi department store Feb. 13-25; Hiroshima Museum of Art March 2-April 8, Kobe City Museum April 14-May 20 and Kagawa History Museum June 9-July 15.
