Academia Consort, a Tokyo-based chorus group mainly consisting of amateur singers, will hold a charity concert Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Meguro Catholic Church, a five-minute walk from JR Meguro Station.
The program, conducted by Kaoru Sakamoto, will be Handel's oratorio "Messiah," featuring soloists Sumie Nakajima, Kenji Otani, Hiroshi Kawakubo and Takashi Matsudaira. The concert is unique in that Otani, conductor of the Tokyo Philharmonic Chorus, will sing the alto part.
Tickets are 4,000 yen in advance, 4,500 yen at the door. Tickets for students and senior citizens are 2,500 yen. Advance tickets are available through CN Play Guide at (03) 5802-9990 and Lawson Ticket at (03) 5537-9955.
All the proceeds will be donated to needy children through UNICEF.
