The inaugural Rocktober festival on Sunday, Oct. 15, at Shiokaze Park in Odaiba, confounded my expectations: I had a great time.
I had feared the worst, as it's damn hard to put on big music events, and Global Vision, the organizers, got off to a shaky, almost surreal, start.
They didn't seem to give themselves enough time to pull all the big names they wanted. They were still trying to get artists to play, or claimed that's what they were doing, right up until a few weeks before the event. By then, the bill should have been done and dusted and they should have been sitting back smoking big fat doobies to ward off the nerves.
