Iberia, a company that has brought Spanish culture to Japan for 29 years, is presenting Fiesta Andalucia 2000. As a part of the festival, Israel Galvan, 26, one of the world's most popular male flamenco dancers, and four female dancers, Isabel Bayon, Rosario Toledo, Manuela Reyes and Pastora Galvan, will tour in May.
Galvan is widely recognized as one of the leading dancers in the world of flamenco today. He started dancing at the age 5 under the instruction of his father Jose Galvan, and has won prizes in many major flamenco competitions, including '96 Premio de Bienal de Sevilla. This will be his third visit to Japan.
The four female performers are also popular, internationally recognized dancers; Pastora Galvan is Israel's younger sister.
"Flamenca y Flamenco, Parte 3," 7 p.m. May 11 at Kanagawa Kenritsu Seishonen Center; 7 p.m. May 12-13 and 2 and 6:30 p.m. May 14 at Gotanda U-Port; 7 p.m. May 17 at Seishonen Bunka Center Artpia Hall, Nagoya; 7 p.m. May 18 at Kosei Nenkin Kaikan Geijutsu Hall.
