To mark its 20th anniversary, the Ota Memorial Museum of Art in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward is holding a series of special ukiyo-e exhibitions through April 26.
The museum, which has a collection of 12,000 works, opened its doors in January 1980. Since January, selected works by leading artists including Utamaro, Sharaku, Hokusai and Hiroshige have been on display. Newly acquired works as well as hand-drawn ukiyo-e will be shown until March 26. Fine ukiyo-e- adorned fans from the Konoike Family Collection will be showcased April 1-26.
The museum also offers lectures and screenings of films on ukiyo-e culture. It is open 10:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. daily except Monday and after the 27th day of each month. It will be open on Monday, March 20, but closed the next day. Admission is 500 yen for adults, 400 yen for college and senior high school students, 300 yen for junior high school students and 100 yen for primary school pupils.
