Pomelo was named rather randomly when she arrived at ARK. Little did we know that the name was spot on. The description of the citrus fruit that comes up online — “bright, tangy and refreshing, with an acidity and zestiness that adds an invigorating quality” — fits this girl to a T.
That cute face makes you want to plant a kiss on it and you just want to sink your face into that fluffy body — but it’s best you refrain. True to her breed, Pomelo is a bit tightly wound, but it’s all part of the Shiba charm. A Shiba is very much its own dog, full of personality and particular about a lot, while also fiercely loyal to family. One of Pomelo’s biggest concerns at present is her bed in the shelter. She has a favorite and if a staff member moves it, Pomelo gets very worried. She’ll follow that person around until her bed is put back in its proper place.
The 10-year-old Pomelo loves walks and playing. Her idea of paradise is a super fast run around a dog park. Pomelo would probably prefer to be the only dog at home, but it’s because she likes having you all to herself.
