Gramma was rescued from the area stricken by the March 11, 2011, earthquake. Nothing is known of where he lived or what happened to his former owners. Now about 6 years old, he has been at ARK for three long years. Nothing is particularly wrong with Gramma, but like many Tohoku canines, there is a distinct lack of socialization that is reflected in his lack of friendliness with other dogs.
Gramma is, however, affectionate with people and would make a fine companion. And, though trainable, don't expect him to sit and drop on command. For that, some people may call him "not too smart"; others could say the opposite. Gramma is his own dog, with a distinct touch of the cold northeast coursing through his veins.
If you are interested in adopting Gramma, Please email ARK at [email protected] or call 050-1557-2763 Monday to Saturday (bilingual) for more information. Tokyo ARK is a nonprofit organization founded by Briton Elizabeth Oliver. It is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned animals. All animals are vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. All prospective new owners are requested to undergo a screening process.
