Charity noh plays will be performed in Kyoto on March 13 to support people affected by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. The performances will start at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

All of the ¥1,500 admission fee will be donated to organizations helping disaster victims.

Symposium on comparative perspectives

An international symposium titled "Exhibiting Cultures: Comparative Perspectives from Japan and Europe" will take place March 17 in the National Museum of Ethnology in Suita, Osaka Prefecture.

Translation in English will be provided during the symposium, which will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Taekwondo and cheerleader lessons for kids

Children can learn the Korean martial art of taekwondo on March 9 and cheerleading on March 10 in Osaka. Lessons will start at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. each day and last 45 minutes.

Participation is free, although everyone will have to pay the regular entrance fee for the Kids Plaza Osaka, which is ¥1,200 for adults, ¥600 for elementary and junior high school students, and ¥300 for children 3 years old and above.

The first 30 children aged 5 through the third grade in elementary school will be accepted for each session. The venue is near Ogimachi Station on the Sakaisuji subway line.

International festival set for Nagakute in Aichi

The International Exchange Festa will take place Sunday in Nagakute, Aichi Prefecture. Visitors can enjoy food from various countries, cultural performances, hands-on experience with handicrafts, and rice-cake making from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

St. Patrick's Day Parade in Nagoya's Osu area

The nonprofit organization Irish Network Japan will hold a St. Patrick's Day Parade in Nagoya on March 16.

The procession will start out at 2 p.m. at Osu Kannon and return after parading through the Osu shopping street for an hour. A mini live concert will be performed at 12:15 p.m. prior to the parade.

Anyone can join the parade as long as they are wearing something green. The venue is close to Osu Kannon Station on the Tsurumai subway line.
