An event featuring a fashion show of Ferragamo's latest collection was held in Tokyo Thursday to wrap up the "Italy in Japan 2009" program.
The four-month program that started in September, aimed at promoting Italian art and cultural heritage to the Japanese public, attracted a total of about 1 million visitors in the first three months, according to the organizer.
Major events held in the course of the program included exhibitions of "Ancient Egypt in Torino," the "Heritage of Imperial Rome," "I Macchiaioli, Masters of Italian Realism" and "Masterpieces of La Gelleria Borghese," as well as concerts of "Teatro alla Scala" of Milan.
The Thursday evening event held at the Italian ambassador's residence featured a fashion show of Ferragamo's men's and women's 2010 spring/summer collection, as well as an exhibition of some of the vintage jewelry collection kept in luxury brand Bulgari's archives in Rome.
It was organized by the Italian Embassy in cooperation with Italy-related companies and institutions in Japan. It was attended by Ambassador Vincenzo Petrone, Ferragamo CEO Michele Norsa, CEO of Salvatore Ferragamo Italia S.p.A., and Flavia Spena, chief financial and organization officer of Bulgari S.p.A.
