The transport system in Japan is very good, but I would like to see the prices lowered. I know it's all privatized, but things like shinkansens are so expensive.

The housing situation in places like Tokyo definitely needs to improve. Apartments can be difficult to get, and once you are in, the places are often cramped.

I would like to see Japan stop treating foreigners as if they are second class. Rectifying laws on divorce and allowing foreigners the vote would be a good start.

Foreigners seem to have more rights in other countries than they do in Japan. The country should sort this out, particularly for students.

I'd like to see foreigners receive more protection from the police force, to prevent incidents such as the protest by rightwingers at Shinjuku Station on Halloween.

More signs in English would be a big help for newcomers to the country. Tokyo is not so bad, but rural areas can be pretty unforgiving for foreigners.
