I check all the newspapers using the nexuslexus search engine. For regular papers, I read the Sydney Morning Herald and the Guardian. The only Japanese magazine I read is Casa Brutus. They often have a translated feature.

I watch CNN and NHK news -- NHK has good history documentaries. I prefer the Asahi Shimbun because it has lots of sections. I also read Newsweek -- in English and Japanese, and CanCam fashion magazine, of course!

I get my information from Lifestyle Japan. It's a zine at japanwelcomesyou.com. It has lots of information on Japanese culture, history, photography. I also watch World TV with Takeshi Kitano, and find out things from my kids.

I would say for business of course the Nikkei Weekly. Also Metropolis and Japanzine is quite good -- it's humorous and there is some good travel information. Another good one is jobsinjapan.com. I check it every day for news.

I read the Nikkei Net, Financial Times, Asian Wall Street Journal, The Times, and the Sankei. European papers often write factually incorrect things about Japan. When I write I want people to understand the real Japan.

For mixed martial arts, I always to go to Sherdog.com because it's the best. The other place I go would be the Japan Today Web site. I go there to read everyone's comments that they post on the discussion boards.
