Otemachi still open?
Dave was in a panic last week. He had just realized his three-year visa required renewal, and wondered if the immigration office in Otemachi was still open.
The answer is no.
For the last two years, all immigration matters concerning residents of Kanto (including metropolitan Tokyo) and the prefectures of Saitama, Gunma, Tochigi, Niigata, Nagano and Yamanashi have been centralized under one roof (with a detention center conveniently placed on the top few floors, so that we don't have far to walk) at 5-5-30 Konan, Minato-ku, Tokyo (phone: 03-5796 7112).
