Major exhibit features Miffy the bunny: A big event featuring Miffy the bunny is being held until April 18 at ATC Museum in Suminoe Ward, Osaka.
Miffy is one of the most popular children's book characters created by Dutch author and illustrator Dick Bruna. The simple forms and colors have generated fans among both children and adults in many parts of the world.
The white bunny and her friends will be featured in a variety of attractions, including stage performances, a three-dimensional reproduction of Miffy's house and neighborhood that visitors can walk in, and photo opportunities with character figures.
There will also be a slide and other play equipment for young visitors, and a display of original illustrations. Merchandise will be on sale.
The event will be open from 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. except from April 12 to 16, when it will be closed.
Admission is 600 yen for children from age 2 to elementary school students, and 1,000 yen for adults.
The venue is on the second basement floor of Asia and Pacific Trade Center's (ATC) O's South building, which is a two-minute walk from Trade Center-mae Station on the New Tram line.

Semiannual Osaka fashion show: The Osaka Collection fashion show will take place April 21 and 22 at MID Theatre in Chuo Ward, Osaka.
Held twice a year, the show was started in 1987 to foster young talent and activate the Kansai region's fashion industry. The April collection will feature works for next autumn and winter by three emerging designers, Toshiya Oshima and Michitada Hirai from Japan, and Hyun Hee Lim from South Korea, as well as those by Hiroko Koshino, a leading fashion figure from Osaka.
The first day will be a show by the young designers, while the April 22 show will feature Koshino.
The shows will be held twice on both days at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Admission is 3,000 yen in advance and 4,000 yen at the door. Advance tickets are available at ticket agency Pia or Lawson convenience stores.

Kimono procession with Kyoto 'tayu': The Guide Interpreter Volunteer Club is organizing an excursion for English-speaking foreigners on April 18 to see a procession of gorgeous kimono in Kyoto.
The tour will visit Joshoji Temple in Kita Ward to observe two "tayu," the highest-ranking female entertainers. The women will walk along Takagamine Street from Koetsuji Temple to Joshoji in their characteristic slow steps. At Joshoji, memorial services will be held in honor of Yoshino, a famous 16th century tayu in Shimabara, Kyoto's pleasure quarter. There will also be an open-air tea ceremony.
Participants will meet guide Paul Satoh at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Kyoto City Tourist Information Office on the second floor of the JR Kyoto Station building.
The cost will be around 1,600 yen for bus fare and lunch. Another 1,000 yen will be requested to support the club's activities.

Turkish-language course offered: The Japan-Turkey Cultural Society is seeking participants for its Turkish-language course for beginners starting in May.
The entry-level, 20-session course will be held every Friday between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., beginning on May 7. Yasushi Imamatsu, a lecturer at Sapientia University, or Eichi University in Japanese, in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, will provide instruction on basic knowledge and skills of the language. Students will be allowed to use the society's library, which has one of the largest collections of Turkey-related books in the Kansai region.
The venue will be the organizer's facility in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto, which is a three-minute walk from Karasuma Station on the Hankyu Line, or from Shijo Station on the Karasuma subway line.
The fee for the course is 50,000 yen.
