Californian-born Terri Nii of KNT Co. appears to have found a most agreeable and satisfying balance in her life.
I accost her at Ofuna Station in Kanagawa Prefecture, on her way to work in Tokyo from Fujisawa, where she lives. "I share the job of co-chief editing the English-language Japanese entertainment and culture magazine Eye-Ai. Right now I'm putting the April issue to bed. We have actor Makoto Fujita on the cover, from the long-running TV series 'Hagure Keiji,' in which he plays the lone wolf detective hero."
Terri also works with 10 other women to put out the Shonan Post, a monthly newsletter in English distributed along the coast from Oiso to Hayama. But this is a volunteer project. "Most of my income derives from working three days a week on a serious think-tank publication."
