The theory behind the Turing Test is at the center of this fine print (right) by the American artist Jin Wicked. The looping tape, inscribed with binary 0s and 1s, represents Alan Turing's model of the computer he formulated in 1936.
The tape spirals away into space, revealing the scope of Turing's theoretical work, which is about the ultimate scope of the computer.
But it is also looped through the brain of its creator, a man who gave a fresh account of the action of the mind. The tape is being scanned by Turing's mind's eye, and that is why his eyes are blank, as if searching inwardly.
