As a highly qualified gardener and horticulturalist, Bernd Kestler has a great idea: collaborating with homeowners who want outdoor spaces designed to suit their lifestyles, or established gardens maintained, in much the same way a personal trainer works with individuals who want a new body image or to keep their existing physique in trim.
"I offer active gardening, working alongside clients and developing close relationships rather than just turning up, doing a job and going away again with no human contact. I like people as much as the work."
Born near Frankfurt, Germany, and growing up in the countryside of the so-called golden Wetterau, Bernd's earliest memory is of walking along a footwalk "of small pebbles, not stones," smelling the scent of flowers and feeling the texture of leaves. I guess I always wanted to be a gardener."
