Tokyo English Life Line (TELL) is offering a 60-hour counseling training program for volunteer telephone counselors. TELL is a 365 days-a-year free counseling line for English speakers and has been serving the international community in Japan since 1973.
The next program begins February 2003 and we offer either an evening or daytime course. The evening training will be held from 6.45-9.30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, while the day course will be from 9.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday mornings.
The training is rich in lectures, group work and counseling practice. Trainees are prepared to work on TELL's Life Line and are trained to listen actively, giving callers the time and space to talk about what is on their minds.
TELL offers a great opportunity for members of the English-speaking community to take part in work that is challenging, rewarding and worthwhile, while gaining valuable communication skills themselves.
We are looking for people who are interested in learning to be good listeners, who are over the age of 21 and who are fluent in English. There are limited places available.
