ANTWERP, Belgium -- William Tyndale, the first translator of the Bible into English from its original Greek and Hebrew texts, is making a comeback that -- if not miraculous -- is considered by many to be at least long overdue.
Indeed, as David Daniell, chairman of the Oxford-based Tyndale Society, recently pointed out: "When BBC television last month asked people to name the 100 greatest English people, Winston Churchill and pop idols and sports stars like David Beckham were on the list. And so was William Tyndale.
"That wouldn't have happened 10 years ago."
